The Gorst area of Bremerton sits at the southern most tip of Sinclair Inlet, and is a primarily industrial and commercial district. The area has a number of military and industrial facilities. The commercial areas in Gorst are largely dominated by warehouses and distribution centers, although there are a few small businesses located in the district, as well as some residential neighborhoods. The Gorst family, from which the town was named, moved in the area in the 1890s. Vern C. Gorst was known as the "grandfather" of United Airlines.
